PS 10: Magazine Advertising Project
Using a magazine that features an interesting and appropriate them, find 3 advertisements that make effective use of photoshop. Cut out the ads, and place each ad on a single ledger-sized piece of paper.
In the margins, identify the photoshop tools and tricks that the advertisers have used to create the image. Mr. Wilson has samples available for you to look at in the classroom.
Now, choose the ad that you like the best (from your 3) and recreate it using your knowledge of photoshop.
You may choose to create a form of parody for your .psd document (substituting the key figure from a cycling ad with your cousin riding a tricycle), but you should take the manufacture of a professional looking ad seriously.
Use as many layers and tools as necessary to recreate this ad, and you may add details to your paper analysis as you discover information as you deconstruct and reconstruct your advertsements.
Hand the paper copies in to Mr. Wilson when you are finished. This work will also receive a grade, and I'd like to post some of this work on the side wall.
Good luck and have fun!
